Biowaste, thanks to its know-how, has developed and optimised a technology for the treatment of wastewater from the food & beverage sector.

We are talking about the SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactors) biological process, ideal for the treatment of food and industrial wastewater with high COD, BOD5, TKN, P and suspended solids values, as it exploits the highest kinetics and natural bacterial selection to break down high pollutant loads.

A technology that guarantees flexibility and efficiency, thanks also to the use of vitrified steel tanks, which ensure long life and excellent corrosion resistance.

The core of the plant is the biological reactor SBR, in which the different treatment stages (homogenisation, oxidation, denitrification and sedimentation) occur in a temporal sequence and not spatially as in traditional biological plants (CAS, MBR, MBBR).

Upstream of the reactor, there is a section for removing suspended grease. The surplus sludge is sent to a thickening tank before final disposal.

ADVANTAGES

  • Elimination of accumulation and homogenisation tanks;
  • Resistance to variations in flow rates and pollutant loads;
  • Absence of need for recirculation;
  • Optimisation of space (smaller footprint);
  • Speed of installation and absence of civil works;
  • Low consumption of reagents and electricity.
